New Clients

June 21st, 2010. By Dave Oei, General Manager.

Thank you for choosing Rancho Santa Fe Veterinary Hospital as your regular veterinarian. We look forward to meeting you!  Here are a few things you can expect from your first visit.

What to Expect

Bring Your Records

Your pet’s health history is very important for many reasons.  For example, we’ll evaluate them to establish your pet’s vaccine protocol.  But we’ll also look for past signs of illness or allergies, such as kidney or heart disease, or vaccine reactions.  If you don’t have your pet’s records, don’t worry, we’ll get them for you.  Just be sure to inform our receptionist of your pet’s previous veterinarian, including their phone number.

New Client Form

The first thing you’ll do as a new client is fill out a simple one-page form.  If you want to stay one step ahead, just get it here: New Client Form

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How much is an exam?
A complete physical exam with a doctor is $52.
  2. Do you have a  puppy / kitten package?
Yes! For puppies, we offer two different packages, depending on your puppy’s age and if he or she has already had some vaccinations done. For kittens, we just offer one package. You can look them over here.
  3. How long will I have to wait before seeing a doctor?
Usually, the wait time to see the doctor is less than 5 minutes. If there are any unforeseen circumstances that arise which may make this wait time longer, you will be notified as soon as possible.
  4. How long will my appointment last?
Most appointments last between 30-45 minutes, depending on what we’re seeing your pet for. However, we’ll spend as much time as necessary with you and your pet in order to address every issue, answer any questions and provide the best patient care possible.
  5. What can I expect from a housecall visit?
A doctor and one technician will arrive at your house during the allotted time slot and will provide the same level of care and commitment to your pet as they would in our hospital. Most simple treatments, such as vaccines, nail trims, and blood draws can be done at your home. Other more complicated treatments, such as x-rays and surgery, may require you to bring your pet in for an appointment in order to have access to the appropriate equipment.
  6. Do you have to take my pet “to the back” for vaccines?
Vaccinations and some other treatments can be done in the exam room with you present. For other treatments, it’s necessary for your pet to come into our treatment area. We will always ask you before performing any treatments in the exam room to make sure that you are comfortable.
