Surgery

Surgical Procedures We Provide

At Rancho Santa Fe Veterinary Hospital, our doctors and independent surgical specialists carry out a wide range of veterinary surgical services. For example, we conduct neuters and ovariohysterectomies (spays) in dogs, cats, and other small mammals such as rabbits and rats. Oral surgery and advanced dentistry is also routinely accomplished at our hospital.

On the more advanced end of the spectrum, with the help of independent board-certified veterinary surgeons, we are able to perform cruciate ligament repair surgeries using either TPO (Triple Osteotomy Surgery) or TTA techniques, medial luxating patella repairs, and elbow repair surgeries. Not to mention, our own doctors perform exploratory abdominal surgeries and mass removals.

These are just a few examples of the surgical procedures that our hospital is able to provide. If you have any questions, please contact us.

The first step toward any surgical procedure is having your pet seen by one of our doctors. They can provide a recommendation tailored to the specific needs of your pet.

Limits to Surgical Procedures

Our veterinarians can perform any surgical procedure that does not require specialty board-certified training.  Having said that, in general our hospital does not provide surgical services for non-medical related issues.  However, please consult with one of our veterinarians directly if you have any questions.

Safety First

It is normal for pet owners to feel concerned about the risks associated any anesthetic procedures.  At Rancho Santa Fe Veterinary Hospital, we do everything possible to reduce those risks.  You can read about the methods we use to minimize anesthesia risks, but as always, you’re welcome to consult with our doctors.

Dear Doctors at Rancho Santa Fe Veterinary Hospital,

Would you consider doing a surgery on a 6.5 yr. old Basenji dog that got hit by a car? His x-rays show a broken lower jaw and a broken shoulder blade. Otherwise he has survived the last 36 hours. We don’t have much money to pay for a surgery but so far can collect $400 to $500, and are still trying to raise money to save his life. I thought from the website that you might be the kind of doctors that could help. If not, can you think of anyone you can refer us to for immediate assistance? Thank you so much.

Hi Kathy, the best thing would be to give us a call at 858-759-8797. In general, it’s very difficult for us to help in situations like yours, but we may know of others who can.
